The Christmas season means there are so many sales on right now, I feel pretty guilty for spending at this time of year but Dixi have a fantastic offer. There is a 50% off code DIXICHRISTMAS giving half price on everything. There were several items I'd had my eye on, mostly bracelets as I've already had some rings from their store.<br />
<br />
One of my favourite looks is the stacked bracelets. I've seen lots of examples on their site such as these ones.<br />

<br />
Japanese food and culture are at the heart of my teen years. Growing up I was fascinated with how a culture so full of people known to be quite solemn and sensible could have another side, filled with cute lunches and crazy fashion.<br />
<br />
Since I am always trying to find ways to make lunch more enticing and stay healthy I got a new bento box (or two) and a book on recipes. The photos above are moulds I found to use on the rice, eggs and sandwiches. I'm so excited to get them, I picked them all from eBay and if you're interested in getting some just search Bento moulds!<br />
<br />
Any way I'm hoping I can adapt these to work for my healthy lunches, I'll post the results if they don't look like a hot mess.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As we approach Christmas I've been trying to think of gifts I would love to receive. Although there is no expectation of gifts, no would I feel disappointed if I received something else, I still had something in mind. It seems funny that many of the products I looked at seem to be gold or rose gold. Everything shown has been added to my Amazon list to make it easy for sharing and so folk don't have to hunt for the gifts. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I found <i>eat beautiful</i> when looking through food books on Amazon, it looks gorgeous and seems to have satisfying recipes inside to embrace health. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><i>Loish</i> is an artist I've been following for a good few years, her style has developed and flourished. I've always admired the beautiful brush techniques and her ability to convey moods and atmosphere. I'd love to own her book. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The pen is a rose gold LAMY LX RAU, this may seem like an odd choice of gift but I love stationery and fountain pens are my favourite pen. The LAMY brand is reliable and well crafted, in a luxurious rose gold they are also reasonably priced. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The gold PS4 controller is for my console, I already have a black one and a white one but I use the console almost everyday so it feels like an investment. Plus it looks nice!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Lastly is Vikings Season 4 part one on Blu-Ray and Versailles: A Biography of a Palace. Books and DVDS have long been a staple if Christmas lists and these are just two historical (albeit not always true to history) stories that intrigue me.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There are other ones I'm interested in but mostly I want to have a relaxing time at home with family enjoying good food and cheesy Christmas TV and songs.</span></div>

<br />
NEXT have such a lovely home collection and when visiting yesterday I realised that I wanted so much of it. As I have not got space for it all yet I thought photos would ease the fact I can't just buy it.<br />
<br />
I love the geometric shapes with the Moroccan feel cushions and in a neutral grey/silver they add a more stylish aesthetic. These cushions would go so well with my throws and cushions I already own.<br />
<br />
Generally I'm not big on signs with writing as so often they look tacky and lack a delicate eye for typography. On the contrary to that I found several items with beautiful type. The homely wooden plaque has a cute woodland lodge feel. I have so many woodland and lodge style decor items I think this would fit perfectly in my home.<br />
<br />
The red candle with an intricate filigree finish is very inviting, it would likely look beautiful with light shining through as the candle burns down.<br />
<br />
I am quite the cat lady and as naff as it may seem I do love these little hanging signs saying 'A house is not a home without a cat'.<br />
<br />
I'm excited to have a place to put so many nice things.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996774557598158779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147740820224206948.post-14420806020340946882016-03-21T20:41:00.001+00:002016-03-21T20:41:42.122+00:00Bad Blogger?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Recently I have been a little AWOL and I'm sorry if you do follow me and like to see my updates. I have a multitude of updates I want to make including some photos from some rambling earlier in the month, a birthday haul and some stationery buys. I've been feeling quite detached from my blog working on a few little projects and searching for work/internships so it has been pushed to the back of my to-do pile but I'm ready to get back on it and practice more photography too.<br />
<br />
I hope you'll join me in my next post and have a fabulous week.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996774557598158779noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147740820224206948.post-73677142075185048472016-02-12T18:10:00.001+00:002016-02-12T18:10:31.290+00:00Stationery | LAMY Set<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lr8ugbrzUSk/Vr4doDQXewI/AAAAAAAAEP8/C5fZbLsZ5a4/s1600/IMG_9724.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lr8ugbrzUSk/Vr4doDQXewI/AAAAAAAAEP8/C5fZbLsZ5a4/s640/IMG_9724.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Another stationery post, I know this is becoming a habit! Regardless I wanted to share what I've picked up recently, a set of LAMY goods. Ideally I wanted a fine nib fountain pen, alas all the stores only seemed to have medium but the lady in the store I went to said they sold the nibs separately so I managed to get a medium and a fine nib. I thought I'd found the elusive 2015 orange inks but sadly they only really had red but I got that as I dislike blue inks for the most part but I didn't want to go with black.<br />
<br />
I really love the Graphite Black style of the pen itself, I'm excited to get writing with it. The body is matt and a great length for optimal grip even when the lid isn't posted on the end. I'm a big fan of the big clip for attaching the pen to notebooks and cases. Despite the very reasonable price tag (£16.50) for the pen I find this pen to be of a wonderful quality, the fine nib was £5 and I'm chuffed with it.<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xOC6gihCQFI/Vq0yQpLG5sI/AAAAAAAAEN4/hTAIKhAk4ak/s1600/bIMG_9698.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xOC6gihCQFI/Vq0yQpLG5sI/AAAAAAAAEN4/hTAIKhAk4ak/s640/bIMG_9698.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've been waiting patiently for this parcel to arrive, or rather impatiently. As I mentioned in an earlier post I have been using the Japanese planner 'Hobonichi Techo 2016' for daily journaling and although I had made a case for it I felt the need for something to fully protect it if I was to use it everyday wherever I was. Hobonichi offer a wonderful delivery service where everything comes in a big yellow bag with a turquoise box and a leaflet about life journalling. If you buy the journals from the official site you get a free four colour pen and a tissue holder. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My order was just the zipper case as I had the planner already. I'd been waiting for the Royal Stewart Lochcarron case to come back into stock as I'm a big fan of tartan, it is timeless and goes with just about everything. The brown leather and gold zip with the red tartan remind me of Scotland (being that it is Scottish haha). The inside of the case has several spaces to store cards, post its and all kinds of notes or accessories along with two fabric book marks with leather tips. The net storage section is great for easy access to important notes or cards as you can see everything in there. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The only downside was being that I live in the United Kingdom there was a hefty customs charge (which is fair enough) but be aware I ended up paying £21 and my case cost £46 so almost half of the original cost just to receive it. Seeing and feeling the quality of the case I'd say it was worth it for sure.</div>

<br />
Most of my blogging motivation comes from reading amazing blogs or seeing something beautiful while I am out on adventures. I'd love to share these with you and hope you find as much joy from them as I do. Please note all images below are from their respective blogs, I had never noticed before how similar their logos were either, clearly all very creative types!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.beinglittle.co.uk/" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FC8oCRXQSic/Vqcxt_-xCbI/AAAAAAAAEMs/iUqUY-fUiLg/s1600/beinglittle.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Being Little is written by Lyzi, a lass residing in the South West of England. She posts beautiful outfit posts which never conform to the restrictions of current trends. It always feels like she has found a fresh new look whenever her outfit posts come up. Fashion aside she is eloquent with her writing and has an eye for stunning interior design, a great example is her latest post '<a href="http://www.beinglittle.co.uk/2016/01/living-room-lounge-makeover-wishlist.html" target="_blank">Living Room Lust</a>'. If you love high quality photography with fun fashion Being Little is a wonderful blog to scroll through. </div>

A Rosie Outlook is written by Rosie, hailing from Bournemouth she posts photographs of her fitness, fashion, food, travel and life posts. One of my favourite things about Rosie is she posts about real life issues and mindfulness, I believe I found the Lively Podcast through her blog in which intention based living is a key topic. Although her photographs are always beautiful I find myself even more captivated by the way she writes, as if you're old friends and she has a lot to catch up on with you. If you enjoy variety in blog posts then I highly recommend Rosie's blog.<br />

<br />
On Serpentine Shores is my favourite blog for travel eye candy. Written by Alex, it features her adventures around Cornwall which is a place I went on holiday as a child and loved very much. Alex posts outfits but it never feels like an outfit post, more like a scene from a film with a beautiful country setting. The whole atmosphere of her posts and her blog in general are very natural and peaceful, like finding a beautiful book on a shelf in a bookstore then discovering it is a story which captivates you until the end. If you're into Poldark style visuals with content which fulfils every time then Alex's blog is for you.<br />

<br />
The shops here seem to sell washi tape as if it is laced with gold at often up to £8 a roll, this is fine but for decoration my journal I didn't need anything ridiculously expensive. I found these tapes on Ali Express and they were barely £1 each, they have 10m on a roll according to the packaging. The designs are amazing, ranging from fresh leaves and flowers to cartoon style sushi rolls. I find these tapes great for creating borders and tabs or for creating collage. It is easy to carry small amounts around in a pencil case or journal by wrapping around a plastic card, I used plastic from the packaging of my candle holders.<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sr1gmtvOP2U/VqJI2tYY-kI/AAAAAAAAEK8/W1KXz_9O-No/s1600/IMG_9668b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sr1gmtvOP2U/VqJI2tYY-kI/AAAAAAAAEK8/W1KXz_9O-No/s640/IMG_9668b.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As part of my attempt to create a more 'Zen' environment to live and work in I've purchased a Bonsai tree, adding fresh leaves and beautiful shapes to my very neutral room. I've always been fascinated with Bonsai trees as they look remarkably like ancient trees and require care which adds a meaningful task to the day.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hFpD5o9OllE/VqJPy_pL05I/AAAAAAAAELk/IMI5l-0CiTU/s1600/IMG_9673.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hFpD5o9OllE/VqJPy_pL05I/AAAAAAAAELk/IMI5l-0CiTU/s640/IMG_9673.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I also found these adorable fox bookends to keep my books tidy. I'd been looking for something very simple but these were in the garden centre for half their price. Much of my ornaments are of wildlife so these fit in perfectly and again add a splash of colour.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
On another matter this little book is quite famous right now, Spark Joy by Marie Kondo (Author of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying). The book gives a deep insight into Marie's tidying method which she calls the KonMari method. Inside are answers to questions about the best way to fold and store clothing, the order in which you can find best success in organising belongings and which possessions you should discard. Although there are many books on the matter Marie has a real flare for instilling passion into those that read them. I had already started clearing out objects that no longer served their purpose to me then this book came along and now I could decide what really brings me joy and make my room a cozy and calming place.<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xmlVS1Y-g0E/VqEy3Q2FQcI/AAAAAAAAEIs/sndhyHlKEec/s1600/IMG_9663.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xmlVS1Y-g0E/VqEy3Q2FQcI/AAAAAAAAEIs/sndhyHlKEec/s640/IMG_9663.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The past few days I've been considering getting a little leather style pencil case as I am smitten with this shape of case. Every time I thought I'd found the one I just didn't want to part with the cash, thus why I thought making one would be interesting. As I am awaiting a Royal Stewart Hobonichi zipper case for my journal it seemed fitting to make something tartan (Black Watch). I've made this a little tutorial to share with you all.<br />
<br />
<b>One | Fabric</b><br />
Choose a fabric which suits your needs, remember if it has a huge pattern you will only see a small amount. The amount of fabric you'll need is up to you but I went with <b>26x16cm</b> which is just right to fit my pens in. This size accommodates about 15 of these Uni Pin fine liners.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7myhkk87gAs/VqE1fZtk1RI/AAAAAAAAEI4/WZi1SpB0RIE/s1600/IMG_9617.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7myhkk87gAs/VqE1fZtk1RI/AAAAAAAAEI4/WZi1SpB0RIE/s640/IMG_9617.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Two | Equipment</b><br />
Sewing Machine - You can sew by hand but it will take a fairly long time<br />
Zipper Foot for machine - This isn't essential it does help keep stitches closer to zip though<br />
Scissors - The sharper the better<br />
Pins<br />
Tailors Chalk - Normal chalk or a white pencil may suffice<br />
Ruler/Set Square<br />
Thread<br />
Patience<br />
Zip - Remember to consider which length you want your case, I went with <b>14cm</b> but likely could have gotten away with a 12cm.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_QdNqVfi0jo/VqE1mIkCILI/AAAAAAAAEJA/y0bf5DfaroY/s1600/IMG_9623.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_QdNqVfi0jo/VqE1mIkCILI/AAAAAAAAEJA/y0bf5DfaroY/s640/IMG_9623.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>Three | Mark Out & Cut</b><br />
After ironing your fabric mark out the size you want, I used a set square to make sure it was an even rectangle. Don't be too precious about the lines as you'll be cutting them and they will be concealed seams. Cut along your lines.<br />
<br />
<b>Four | Attaching Zip</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c8gOsISwlWw/VqE2SbqzmgI/AAAAAAAAEJI/x9zcHvXchUU/s1600/IMG_9626.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c8gOsISwlWw/VqE2SbqzmgI/AAAAAAAAEJI/x9zcHvXchUU/s640/IMG_9626.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
With the fabric pattern facing up place the zipper with the zip facing down on the edge of the fabric so the top edge of the fabric meets the top edge of the zip and pin these together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V54eDQbLWaE/VqE2oc3cozI/AAAAAAAAEJQ/hcIgRVJ7VNs/s1600/IMG_9627.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V54eDQbLWaE/VqE2oc3cozI/AAAAAAAAEJQ/hcIgRVJ7VNs/s640/IMG_9627.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see above you need to make sure you have an even amount of extra zip either side. I added interface to the back of my fabric to add structure but in hindsight I highly recommend you don't. Now pull the end which isn't pinned upwards toward the zip, again pinning the patterned side to the front side of the zip.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-STdHxf1xrlM/VqE3y12tEuI/AAAAAAAAEJg/uFaXz_YRtwg/s1600/IMG_9628b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-STdHxf1xrlM/VqE3y12tEuI/AAAAAAAAEJg/uFaXz_YRtwg/s640/IMG_9628b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
When you go to sew the zip make sure there is only one layer of fabric and the zip under the foot, this can be done by tucking the rest of the case out to the left. The zipper foot will allow you to sew neatly next to the zip without going over it. Sew all the way down the zip then remove the case from your machine, trimming loose threads and do the other side of the zip.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LzNOteJLyaI/VqE4EuC3GbI/AAAAAAAAEJo/-yVJr6ll7Y4/s1600/IMG_9633.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LzNOteJLyaI/VqE4EuC3GbI/AAAAAAAAEJo/-yVJr6ll7Y4/s640/IMG_9633.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E7R0qaRykkQ/VqE4xxcmVYI/AAAAAAAAEJw/W4O3aVFY13c/s1600/IMG_9636.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E7R0qaRykkQ/VqE4xxcmVYI/AAAAAAAAEJw/W4O3aVFY13c/s640/IMG_9636.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you turn your case inside out it will look like this now. You can press the fabric beside the zip to make it look neater and then open the zip so you can top-stitch to add a refine finish to the outside (shown below). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QGdSD-QMvIo/VqE5JTAdVvI/AAAAAAAAEJ4/qBzjBVoLxW8/s1600/IMG_9639.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QGdSD-QMvIo/VqE5JTAdVvI/AAAAAAAAEJ4/qBzjBVoLxW8/s640/IMG_9639.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rQV-LtdURKM/VqE5TMFU2vI/AAAAAAAAEKA/0ULKIuKZIGw/s1600/IMG_9641.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rQV-LtdURKM/VqE5TMFU2vI/AAAAAAAAEKA/0ULKIuKZIGw/s640/IMG_9641.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>The Tricky Bit </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now this bit is fairly tricky, you need to tuck the sides into themselves so you have a flat surface underneath and on the zip but the sides have a pleat in them. It was really difficult to visualise this with photos but this is it with the side tucked in below. You need to do this on both sides, like the sides of a paper bag.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ao6t4oB6gcc/VqE5gVIxXzI/AAAAAAAAEKI/J7L_AEwKInU/s1600/IMG_9648.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ao6t4oB6gcc/VqE5gVIxXzI/AAAAAAAAEKI/J7L_AEwKInU/s640/IMG_9648.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pin the ends so the pleats stay and then sew roughly 1cm from the edge horizontally across so that your zip will be sealed (please ensure your zip is not past these pins before you sew or when you cut off this zip excess your case won't work). </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cHOGNU8cqRU/VqE6Pj8lBmI/AAAAAAAAEKU/61uKxbakXVo/s1600/IMG_9649.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cHOGNU8cqRU/VqE6Pj8lBmI/AAAAAAAAEKU/61uKxbakXVo/s640/IMG_9649.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0is2mGKcqF0/VqE6zmwT_qI/AAAAAAAAEKc/euHmZoElR-k/s1600/IMG_9650.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0is2mGKcqF0/VqE6zmwT_qI/AAAAAAAAEKc/euHmZoElR-k/s640/IMG_9650.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now you can unzip it and turn it inside out again to reveal your finished case. Voila! Apologies if any of this was unclear, I had quite a bit of trouble with lighting as I did this in the evening but wanted to share the method with you. I hope you enjoy making one too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I stumbled upon a little store on Magdalen Street in Norwich yesterday which I'd never been in but walked by so many times. In the store there was an eclectic selection of goods, with small stock levels of a variety of general office stationery. While looking in a little cabinet I spotted this quirky white box with scalloped edges with that familiar TOMBOW logo and this excited my interests. The sweet little man working in the store got it out for me and as I opened the box a beautiful bright orange leather case appeared with a copper orange pen with silver details inside.<br />
<br />
The size of the pen was ideal, it is about three inches long and has a ballpoint nib which extends out when you pull at the silver top. It fits snuggly into the leather case which has a luxury feel and a strap which adjusts and fits around my notebooks perfectly. I'm so pleased with this and it only cost me £5, when checking Amazon I noticed it retails for almost £40!<br />
<br />

<br />
Elm Hill is a picturesque street in the heart of Norwich that still has most of its original 16th Century buildings. Although much of it is residential there are a handful of restaurants, antique stores, craft shops and galleries. The quirky shop windows allow an enjoyable browse, filled with intriguing objects like stamps, traditional teddy bears and toys, board games and even cats (in the gallery windows).<br />
<br />
I remember as a child going to the bear shop with my family, wishing I could take every bear home with me and it still gives me flutters going by there. I was lucky enough to go to university around the corner from here, it was a real treat to wander down here and get inspiration. If you visit Norwich be sure to take a walk along this street for the feel of a real English heritage treasure.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Recently I bid farewell to one of my favourite take out cups and felt at a loss without the ability to have a drink on the go. This Kate Spade cup caught my eye a few weeks back, with a shiny metallic ring pattern with a cream lid and base it looked so chic and not too over the top. I've always appreciated Kate Spade's ability to be sophisticated but also bold without printing the brand name massively over it like other brands.<br />
<br />
Now I can have guilt free take out coffee and this was £16 from Jarrold's of Norwich.<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-chSv6eIN8QY/VpfTdK6I_1I/AAAAAAAAEEE/rvHF-iDzBZY/s1600/IMG_9557.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-chSv6eIN8QY/VpfTdK6I_1I/AAAAAAAAEEE/rvHF-iDzBZY/s640/IMG_9557.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Norwich has very few stationery shops, however I thought it would be nice to share the best with any one who might wish to visit. The first in this guide is Paperchase on Castle Street, it is only a few minutes walk from the Castle and a minutes walk from the Castle Mall. There is actually a second store in House of Fraser but this will focus on the main store on the high street. This particular store has always offered the best customer service, staffed with friendly, keen to help people who're never too busy for you.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Paperchase is a national chain as far as I'm aware and they offer a handful of different ranges at any time. Currently they have Valentines, Get Organised, Get Fit, Parkano and Wild At Heart, each of which has their own binders, notebooks, organisers, pens and sometimes even cups and stickers. They constantly have a large range of under £10 pens ideal for people on a budget whilst studying. There are glass cases with premium pens and accessories including Kaweko, Parker and Cross. I often find myself gazing in at these beautiful items and wishing I had more bountiful finances. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you're a keen list maker or love the Moleskine format they have their own selection 'Noto' that offer very similar insert styles with a range of colours pleasing to the eye. If you're looking for the more traditional they also sell Filofax planners and inserts at reasonable prices. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Beware the sticker stand near the check out it catches me very often and I end up buying lots of super cute stickers (not really a bad thing).</div>

When I got my Tombow fountain pen I didn't think it had a cartridge with it so I checked online and found the ones on Amazon had awful reviews but a British website, <a href="https://www.thepencompany.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #8e7cc3;">The Pen Company</span></a>, had a pack of 6 with very positive feedback. Although the price difference is quite big I wanted to have something which wouldn't mess up my new pen. The postage was free if you spent £10 so I picked a reasonably priced rollerball pen to make it up. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The LAMY Safari rollerball in Charcoal is slick with the black all over and they even sent the box flat packed so you get to experience the full luxury without it getting crushed. The box seems influenced by architecture with its ribbed cut-outs and as a designer I appreciated this beautiful but non essential aspect. The pen itself is OK but I found it initially was a bit hit and miss when writing, the ink was a tad blotchy but I think this is likely just first time use. Physically it is comfortable to write with and I'm sure I'll get used to it. The ink it came with was blue which isn't ideal for me as I'm fond of consistency, so I will likely refill it with black. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The service from <a href="https://www.thepencompany.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #8e7cc3;">The Pen Company</span></a> was exemplary, the items were well packed and arrived swiftly. I'd definitely use them again.</div>

There is a retail park on the outskirts of Norwich called Longwater which has The Range, Next (with Costa), Staples, Argos and lots of other shops to amble around in but I particularly wanted to go to The Range. I'm not sure if they're everywhere but they are similar to B&M and Home Bargains I think. Really I was going to look at the stationery as I needed a cutting board and a case for my Kindle but I came away with neither.<br />

One of the best benefits of retail parks is they often have coffee shops with great seating to watch the world go by. Although my seat overlooked the car park (I grabbed these seats after they cleared the table) the view past was of fields and trees, very relaxing. The Next there is massive and houses a home section and a clothes department with a great Petite selection too, great for shorties like me. I bought a set of rose gold rings which I'm apprehensive about using until I've coated the inside but they are so shiny! </div>

Apologies for the poor lighting here, taken in the evening and I haven't arranged a light box just yet.<br />
<br />
I popped into town after the retail park since I had a voucher for the Intu Chapelfield mall and wanted to get The Martian, alas it isn't out until tomorrow but I did get Jurassic World and Mad Max Fury Road instead. Whilst in town I went into the House Of Fraser Paperchase (Geez Claire have some self control) and they had stickers for 25p! I clearly didn't resist, below is the result of this.<br />

It is no great secret that I am a stationery hoarder. I have so much of it after years of studying creative subjects (Textiles, Fashion, Art & Design), I thought it would be fun to share some of my newest pieces. I got the <a href="http://www.paperchase.co.uk/go-rose-gold-twist-pen.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #8e7cc3;">Rose Gold Pen</span></a> from Paperchase, I adore rose gold as a finish and have lots of jewellery like it. I really hope it is refillable as it is beautiful and very comfortable to use, writing very smoothly with black ink. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The<span style="color: #8e7cc3;"> TOMBOW Object Fountain Pen</span> in black matte is also from Paperchase. Unfortunately this is discontinued but I got it in the sale so if you're lucky you may find one in store (it is available from other sites though). I had been looking for a nice fountain pen online then this one jumped out at me whilst browsing the sales, the matte casing and generally minimalist style is so sophisticated and wonderful to touch. This is another pen that doubles as something beautiful to look at as well as use. I must admit, I haven't used a fountain pen since school so this should be an interesting new way to write in my Hobonichi. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I went a bit crazy in MUJI, their sale was just too good to miss. Their gel pens never feel scratchy when used, unlike a lot of the general Western style gel pens so I picked up a few of these and a tin to store them in on my travels. The colour of the pens are very vivid, great for making important notes easily visible, they also come in different nib widths (<a href="http://www.muji.eu/pages/online.asp?Sec=13&Sub=52&PID=5162" target="_blank"><span style="color: #8e7cc3;">0.5 pink</span></a> and <a href="http://www.muji.eu/pages/online.asp?Sec=13&Sub=52&PID=5161" target="_blank"><span style="color: #8e7cc3;">0.38 green</span></a> shown below). Aside from the pens they had some amazing stamps for an absolute bargain, just £1 reduced from £9.95 a set. I love using stamps in my journal, the space ones made me think of how we only recently got a British astronaut on the International Space Station (hurray). </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
To start 2016 on a high (and without any complicated resolutions) I am starting a new regular segment, if I can keep it up, which is A-ROSE (Accountable Rose). Some times it is far easier to hold yourself accountable for your goals if you share them with others. I want to set goals and talk about them to help me keep up with them and motivate, it has worked in the past with weight loss and progressing with hobbies so here I am ready to show 2016 who is boss. I hope you'll join me in making every day matter and trying to make it all that bit easier to keep up with.<br />

So it begins, 2016 is here. Happy New Year folks, let us not forget to 'be excellent to each other' and 'party on dudes' to borrow lines from the ever pious Bill & Ted!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16996774557598158779noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147740820224206948.post-35357366751083443002015-12-28T19:55:00.001+00:002015-12-28T19:55:17.970+00:00Christmas Post<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Well it came and went swift enough. Christmas was another great success, full of good cheer, good food and much generosity. I was pretty spoiled with gifts from family, friends and co-workers which makes it all the more sad to be considering moving on from my job. I think my favourite part of Christmas is the decorations, especially how it fits in with nature. Having a tree in the living room with hangings of snowflakes, bells, small woodland creatures and the like. Funnily enough we've had a visit in our garden recently of a greedy little squirrel, affectionately named 'Jeff'.<br />
<br />
I won't speak too much of what I received in the way of gifts but I wish you all the best for this last week of December ready for a fresh year!<br />

<br />
Seasons greetings folks! I hope you're enjoying all the delicious food and having a merry time with family and friends. I don't expect to be sat infant of my computer tomorrow as it is a day for relaxing and spending time focussing on the important things, like your loved ones. So here is wishing you all the best for your Christmas day.<br />

Since I seem to have difficulty keeping up with blogging sometimes I am trying to commit myself to this by having a beautiful planner (The Hobonichi Techo) and searching the net for inspiration and top tips from frequent users of journals.<br />
<br />
I found this brilliant explanation of '<a href="http://www.bulletjournal.com/" target="_blank">Bullet Journals</a>', a great way to utilise a plain notebook.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/fm15cmYU0IM/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="400" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fm15cmYU0IM?feature=player_embedded" width="600"></iframe></div>
<br />
The layout is very simplistic once you get your head around it and the indexing is neat for future browsing. I like that there is no pressure to write anything as it isn't printed, you write the dates etc. in yourself. I get the feeling this is a little too liberating for me and would take away my commitment to write daily but it seems ideal for planning. I hope some one might find this interesting regardless.<br />
<br />
I'm away to read a bit of Michael Palin's memoirs about his journals during his Monty Python years, bring on some inspiration!<br />

Their T-shirts are the greatest thing since sliced bread for me, with the perfect soft and light fabric, a fit which really flatters every one and a price which isn't horrendous (especially when I had student discount).<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Looking through their website and realising I could hardly afford one, let alone all of the things that I wanted it seemed a great idea to make a little window shopping wish list. These are some of my favourites right now. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fy-C6lFfG-o/VnKGdb3b8qI/AAAAAAAAD70/s_s1GbgAa0Y/s1600/Levis_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fy-C6lFfG-o/VnKGdb3b8qI/AAAAAAAAD70/s_s1GbgAa0Y/s1600/Levis_1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
These jeans look so great for relaxing or wandering about town. I've been making plans to visit more places and after going to Berlin I've realised I need some slouchy warm clothes for those adventures.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f3Cd1x44ZKU/VnKGd2YOnPI/AAAAAAAAD78/6OvzNFVw37k/s1600/Levis_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f3Cd1x44ZKU/VnKGd2YOnPI/AAAAAAAAD78/6OvzNFVw37k/s1600/Levis_3.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Shirt dresses are perfect for styling in several ways and this one called out to me. I get the feeling it would be too long on a shorty like me but the classic Levi stitching and the soft Sierra shade makes me wish I had one of these so much.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PkvoMbTp-as/VnKGdayHEFI/AAAAAAAAD74/1Gw2pXqtb-0/s1600/Levis_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PkvoMbTp-as/VnKGdayHEFI/AAAAAAAAD74/1Gw2pXqtb-0/s1600/Levis_2.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Skinny jeans might be the in trend still but now I am getting a little older I really love these slim fits. The silhouette looks so flattering and I like the thought of giving my lower leg space to breathe.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--s6fkfEbqRE/VnKJhfa1cyI/AAAAAAAAD8Q/HQrrpl30CO4/s1600/Levis_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--s6fkfEbqRE/VnKJhfa1cyI/AAAAAAAAD8Q/HQrrpl30CO4/s1600/Levis_4.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Really digging the worn leather lace up boots just now and bets are that these would look great even with age. I loved the fact they were only ankle ones, quite often I find longer ones can be uncomfortable to wear with jeans, especially not skinny jeans. The colour of these is a luscious warm brown which suits my neutral palette of clothing to the tee. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So those are my top favourites, it might seem indulgent to post them online but hey if ya can't buy them might as well be inspired by them!<br />

I love bespoke products, the feeling of having something rare and beautifully hand crafted is the best feeling when it comes to shopping. I know most people aren't fussed if they can find something cheaper but honestly the quality you get when you buy from a professional tailor is on a different level. It also comes down to us to help promote British companies, the foundations of our economy (sorry if that sounds preachy). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So as a part of this I thought I'd post a mini wish list feature for a brand from my home City. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
"<i>We are small skilled team manufacturing everything by hand guaranteeing the highest quality of materials and craftsmanship within every item. Our passion is to produce items our customers will adore and cherish for their opulent leathers and individual craftsmanship shunning the norm of mass manufacturing. Making each item truly individual to every customer. </i>" - Blu Studios</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The use of metallics and crisp shapes/silhouettes really makes these eye catching and individual, with a couture appearance. I'm looking forward to putting some money aside for one of these gorgeous back packs and fluffy accessories to add to my collection of high end bags. </div>
