Fitness Apps

A slightly different type of post today, I wanted to talk about a few fitness apps I've used and which I find best.

I have been really enjoying Fitocracy. It is a strong fitness app, it holds all the aspects of fitness with ways to log your workout, 'give props' as a way to appreciate your friends workouts and lots of ways to socialise to find new fitness buddies.

I used to use My Fitness Pal all the time. It is great for tracking your daily nutrients and calorie intakes. It has a huge database of food information and you can scan bar codes to update your food diary. The exercise diary allows you to include your workout calories etc. into your food diary. (also ugh at hyphenation here sorry!)

Not a bad little app, it gives you the outline of couch to 5K running. It isn't the best one out there but it does the job, just wish it monitored your run as you did it, it does show timers and has a cute little colour display when you are meant to run from when you should jog.

Runtastic is my favourite running app. It has all the gadgets for training yourself, tracking it and sharing it. Just generally great to use and easy.

  1. For a couch to 5k program the NHS did a podcast on iTunes that was free and took you through week 1 to week 9. The great thing it is it talks you through in your ear when to change pace so you don't have to think about it. :)
