H&M Sweaters 14.99 each

It is the most wonderful time of the year for me, when regarding clothes anyway. I love layering using scarfs, boots, belts and hats all at once, just being able to wear enough to make some great textural contrasts makes me so happy. Something my closet definitely lacked in was comfy sweaters, I tend to stick with dark colours like black or deep blues and greens but I was inspired by another blogger to go for more neutral softer shades. I am smitten with pastels and earthy tones, though there really seemed a lack of what I was particularly hunting for in shops. Why is there so much knit with huge heavy bling on it yet nothing plain?

Alas I was elated to find H&M was my saviour. After trying on a pile of jumpers I found these two were my favourites. The colours here aren't great and Photoshop just wouldn't play nicely, the front one is in fact a mushroom brown and the other is a pastel salmon pink. These two particularly caught my eye as they varied in shape, texture and thickness. The pink is short and quite baggy (I got a medium to give me the extra baggy look), this will go perfectly with my rose gold watch and accessories, I think I'll probably wear it with trousers as I fear denim may stain it. The mushroom brown one is longer and slightly fitted, it has a beautiful pattern along the front and down the sleeves and slight slits in the sides for my lady hips. This'll go great with leggings and boots I think, maybe some short shorts.

Another star buy was a little satchel bag, bought from The British Heart Foundation shop. The bag was brand new and only £12.99! I adore the vibrant duck egg turquoise colour with the rose gold unique catch on the front. It has plenty of pockets inside and is perfect for a wee lass like me as it isn't over cumbersome.

Baby It's Cold Outside

The temperature here recently has been so cold it has felt like the deepest of Winter. This inspired me to do a post on interiors to warm up your rooms/studios. Also a song to put you in the mood for those days wrapped up in a warm blanket, sipping hot cocoa and doing some work on your computer.

Above are some examples of lovely warm interiors :) I really love all the combinations of different textiles, patterns and textures.Warm neutral fabrics with wooden accents and bright colours on soft furnishings really makes a cold space a warm and cozy home.

I compiled this little montage of images below for 6 essentials to making a room that little hovel where you can stay warm and feel inspired.

 1. Candles - Adds warmth and scented candles can be very therepeutic.
2. Antique/Vintage frames filled with unique art can really set the tone for the room.
3. Wooden storage/accents add personality to a room and steers away from that ice cold IKEA white.
4. Books - Keep a pile of books on your coffee table or desk for reference or as a break from your work.
5. Fairy lights and mirrors enhance the mood in a room, giving a festive feeling and mirrors can make the room appear more spacious.
6. Blankets - One of my favourites, blankets and throws add instant warmth to a room and can co-ordinate with other accents such as your hanging art, furniture or just your mood.

Lady Luck Cream

As usual I have a whole load of work to do for Uni but needing a little break so thought I'd come do some blogging. 

Looking around the shops recently I have noticed an influx of cable knit and soft spring colours; cream, pastel pink, muted teals and cool beige. I rarely buy knits as they make me look chunky/like a Michelin man as I'm short and quite curvy but I found some lovely little sweaters in H&M with cable knit fronts but plain backs and was so chuffed! They're clearly popular as every size but S & XS were sold out. I snatched up two slightly different ones in cream with a Chapelfield (our regions big clothes shopping mall) voucher I had. 

I love the detail of these, it has a lovely nostalgic feeling, after years of wearing knitted sweaters in my childhood. I've collected some images for inspiration from Tumblr (all sources linked). A few of these look like the sweaters I have actually hehe!

Wintery Warmers White

Hey lovelies, here are a few loves for the Winter wish list. I already own the H&M Faux Fur Collar but would love it in maybe the black or red. The hat with headphones I think looks a little strange but I think it's a great idea to keep cozy and listen to some lovely festive tunes. I love the mix of pattern and folds on the coat, it just looks very flattering and chic.

Chilled November Teal

What is it with Christmas shopping that makes people so jittery? Every one in town seemed to be stroppy and rude, it was a little depressing after working hard at Uni all day. 

Today was a typically chilly November day, I tried to cover up as much but wanted a little bit of a girly day so in comes the skater skirt and stilettos. Dressing up gave me an opportunity to do an OOTD post, I did have a little faff around with some photoshop settings to see how I could spice up my photos.

Winter Is Coming...

Had a little discussion with a few of my friends on Twitter about dressing for Winter. I think many people dread the change over of wardrobes as Summer you can throw on a pair of shorts and T-shirt then you're set to go. With Winter you can either look at it as an exciting season full of accessorizing heavily and layering to the nines or you can dread the thought of looking frumpy or large in big jumpers and shapeless coats.

So I figure it's time to post my thoughts on what works for me: 

1. Pick a length that suits you.

Many people make the mistake of getting something just because it is on trend and end up looking either drowned or like they borrowed it off their younger siblings. 

If you're short like me look for the petite ranges; Topshop, Dorothy Perkins & ASOS all have Petite ranges. With a coat the right length you'll find it will be a better fit on the arms, it will go in at the right areas if it is fitted and it won't drown you in fabric (unless that's the design intention). 

Petite outfit idea, slightly pricey but items that will get good wear.

2. Wear what fits, not the size label you usually are.

It is very important in all aspects of fashion to realise, what is on the label doesn't matter, it is how the garment fits that does matter. Remember with Winter coats you need extra room for layers underneath. No one cares if your jacket says size 8 or size 38, the only person it will bother is you. If you buy too small you'll be uncomfortable and look bigger than you are.

3. Layers, layers & more layers.

You can go crazy with layering your clothes, mix up colours, natural earthy tones or just black and white. 

Wearing a dress? Add a snazzy decorative scarf, some bright tights and even some over the knee socks over those. 

T-shirt and jeans your usual thing? Try adding a baggy jumper with skinny jeans or a tight sweater over a tank top with a blazer if you're wearing boot cut or baggy. Try not to wear baggy clothes on both the top half and bottom half of your body or you could feel very frumpy or bulky.

4. Accessorize. 

Buy a few waist belts to go over your coat to accentuate your waist, match it with a similar coloured scarf and gloves. Invest in lots of different length socks to go over your tights/leggings. Don't be afraid to add a vibrant colour scarf or hat to a neutral outfit.

5. Mix styles. 

Wear a feminine frilly dress with a camou-coat. Put on your favourite band t-shirt with a smart blazer, leggings, shorts and boots. Don't be frightened to break the rules.
